FOGG Alert – October 17, 2007

Hello FOGG Supporters!

Friends of Golden Gateway is pleased to tell you that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Senator Carole Migden’s SB815 on Saturday.  This means that  Seawall Lot 351 (parking area abutting the Club site) remains under the Public Trust prohibiting private housing to be built on that site.

Our efforts are far from over. In our October 5, 2007 Open Letter we said that the developer will try to work an exchange of property so he can eventually build his massive condominium and underground parking lot project.  Images of his proposal are available on this web site.  If he doesn’t succeed with this design, there is the probability that he will move his project further onto the Club site, removing more tennis courts and possibly the swimming pools.  We will keep you posted as events unfold. This also gives us the opportunity to sincerely thank those that heeded our call for additional funds to continue the fight for open recreational space.  We thank all of you who contributed in response to our last Open Letter.  We still have a way to go, and we know that our 1,400 plus FOGG members do not wish to see the efforts of our volunteers and attorney be stymied because of lack of funds.  You can make your tax deductible contribution for 2007 to AGAPE/FOGG and mail it to James Eggert, Treasurer, 550 Davis St. #46, San Francisco, CA  94111.  On the memo line write 2007 Tax Deductible Donation. You can also donate on the Donations to FOGG link on this web site.As always, we appreciate your help now more than ever. We are working with the Save Our San Francisco Tennis Club (SOSFTC) folks and other recreational groups to produce permanent legislation to protect recreational space over 15,000 feet (both public & private) as the present recreational resolution expires in June 2008.  Moving forward with this legislation will mean additional expenditures. FOGG is also in the final stages of developing their own plans that do not include any buildings on the present Club site.  We hope to have our plans on our web site in the next two weeks.Once again, thanks for your continuing support.
