FOGG Open Letter – January 28, 2008
Sunday, January 27th, 2008Dear FOGG Supporters:
FOGG delivered its response to Mr. Snellgrove’s NOP (Notice of Plan) for the EIR study to the San Francisco Planning Department on Friday, January 25th. You can review it, and we urge you to do so. It is posted on this web site. Writing our response took a great deal of time and research. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to our volunteers: Martie Young, who was the heavy lifter in drafting the response, with strong assistance from Theo Armour, Bill Benkavitch, Bob Iwersen and Al Glassgold, a number of anonymous participants, and, of course, our land use attorney, Sue Hestor.
We don’t know how the Planning Department will respond, but we did make a strong case for a serious review of the EIR to cover topics that are of great concern to the neighborhood and citizens throughout the City. We called attention to the loss of tennis courts, a smaller lap pool, less space for recreational activities, an oversized underground parking lot, an increase in traffic and noise, shadow and light concerns, water and sewage waste disposal, and hazardous materials and environmental implications. These are just some of the issues we covered. (more…)
