FOGG Open Letter – November 15, 2008

If you haven’t already heard, the SF Port deadline for responding to their RFP (Request for Proposals) on Seawall Lot 351 was October 30th.  There was only one proposal submitted; it is from San Francisco Waterfront Partners ll.  (Why are we not surprised?). As you know SWL 351 is adjacent to the Golden Gateway Tennis & Swim Club, and would be an integral part of SFWP’s development for 170 luxury condominiums and a 500 plus space underground parking garage on the present Club site.

Now the SF Port says that they are reopening the RFP to attract new proposals, even though they state the obvious that we are in a very severe financial uncertainty.  The new deadline for submittal is December 19, 2008.

We ask:  What is the rush for a new RFP under the admitted financial situation?  And if the Port is ‘terminating’ (their word) the original RFP does that include termination of the one proposal by SFWP?  We hope to get some answers at the next Port Commission meeting.  The meeting is set for Tuesday, November 18, at 3:00pm in the Commission meeting room, 2nd floor of the Ferry Building.  FOGG will be attending this meeting and will advise our supporters of what happens.  Stay tuned.
