FOGG Alert – May 6, 2009

On Thursday, May 14 there will be a joint open hearing between the San Francisco Planning Department and the Parks/ Recreation Department concerning budgeting and protecting recreational space in San Francisco.  The meeting will be held at City Hall, Room 400, 11:00am.

The Save Our San Francisco Tennis Club Committee (SOSFTC), Youth Tennis Advantage (YTA), and Friends of Golden Gateway (FOGG) have banded together to work on preventing the continued deterioration and elimination of recreational space, to reverse the trend and include RECREATION as a part of Recreation & Open Space Planning.

A Commentary on the Recreation & Open Space Element (ROSE) of the City General Plan has been prepared by SOSFTC, for presentation at the May 14 meeting.  We sincerely thank both Mason Grigsby and Kris Schaeffer for their effort in preparing such a thorough and factual document.  We are also pleased to be part of this citywide alliance.  This document can be viewed by clicking on the Page link on this web site.

We are growing in strength day by day.  As you can see this is not just a local issue.  Support for open recreational space is supported throughout the City by many groups and citizens concerned with this quality of life issue.  If anyone had doubts about FOGG’s viability, recent events should put them to rest.

We urge all who wish to attend the May 14 meeting to do so.  FOGG also says now could not be a better time to show your support by participating in our Petition Drive and fund raising efforts to continue what we feel is a real opportunity to keep our recreational space at its present site and in its present size.  You can make your contribution by clicking on the Page link on this web site to make a tax deductible donation.

FOGG looks forward to your continued support.
