FOGG Open Letter – June 21, 2009

Please mark Tuesday, June 30 on your calendars.  That is when the SF Planning Department will be holding a “redo” Planning Workshop on the Northeast Embarcadero Study.  Click here (Study) for more Information.

The Workshop will be held at a good central location, the KGO auditorium at 900 Front Street from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.  This review of the Northeast Embarcadero corridor includes Seawall Lot 351 that is a significant part of the proposed 8 Washington Street development on our open recreational space – The Golden Gateway Tennis & Swim Club.

It’s a “redo” because the first meeting in late May did not include notification to The Gateway tenants and other neighborhood residents and businesses about this Study.  We urge our FOGG supporters to attend and express your position on the 8 Washington Street proposal for the 84 foot high luxury condominium towers and 400 plus underground parking garage that will reduce our Club by over 52%.

There will be two or three more Workshops to be held during the summer.  These Workshops are only one of many vital activities where FOGG is engaged in efforts to preserve our open recreational space.  Much time is being spent reviewing documents at both local and state government agencies and attending meetings and workshops that can have an impact on stopping the proposed project.  We use every one of these opportunities to make our position known and garner as much information and support as possible.

All this and much more is being done by volunteers, BUT it also requires a great deal of hours by our land use attorney.  That means worthwhile dollars must be spent, and we need your financial support to continue this effort on all fronts if we are to meet our critical and necessary goal of raising $25,000 for this year.

We know FOGG has the momentum in this battle, but it will take you to invest your dollars to continue on and complete our mission.  Remember, all donations are tax deductible.  Your needed donation can be made to AGAPE/FOGG, with a notation on the memo line “taxable donation”, and mailed to our Treasurer and CPA, Jim Eggert, 550 Davis St. #46, San Francisco, CA 94111.  You may also donate on this website by clicking on the Donations to FOGG link.  Now is the time to step forward with your financial help, and thanks for all your support.
