FOGG Open Letter – October 16, 2010

We can’t put it more succinctly – This is $CRUNCH TIME!!

FOGG has been successful for over 7 years in saving our recreational space (GGT&SC) from developers who have no interest in what the majority of our neighbors and friends throughout the City have stated time after time through their letters, public statements and tax free donations:

DO NOT DESTROY THIS ONE OF A KIND FAMILY ORIENTED RECREATIONAL CENTER!!

We are in “over drive” in our efforts that include legal action and public outreach.  We have the momentum, and have won a good number of the battles, but could lose the “war” if our FINANCIAL SUPPORT needed to continue these efforts is not stepped up and increased by our supporters.  This is a critical time in the history of FOGG, and we need your help now by making a tax deductible donation that will provide us the financial wherewithal to continue our efforts.

Mr. Simon Snellgrove (San Francisco Waterfront Partners), the developer of the proposed high rise luxury condominiums and the proposed 420 space underground parking garage, stated at a recent Port Commission meeting that he has spent $26 million dollars on his development in 5 years!!  Whether it is $26 million or ½ of that number he doesn’t say where those dollars are coming from.  He doesn’t tell you that he is partners with CalSTRS, and they are funding his project with teacher’s retirement funds.  FOGG would like to know where all those dollars are going and to whom.  We don’t see where that kind of money has been spent, and where it went.

FOGG’s donors, with no strings attached have donated $250,000 over these past years, 1/100th of what Mr. Snellgrove purports to have spent (You would think that CalSTRS would find FOGG a better financial investment.).  FOGG has been able to keep the community’s open recreational center open, thanks to the generous donations of hard working middle class families, retirees (many on fixed income), and a number of individual small business leaders.  We are not beholden to the political power brokers or those with self-serving interests who line their pockets at the expense of middle class families and their children.

FOGG INTENDS TO KEEP IT THAT WAY.

We need  our supporters, and in particular those who have been enjoying the benefits of the GGT&SC, but have decided to just sit on the sidelines, and reap the benefits provided by those who have committed their donations to the cause to get involved now!.

It is easy and is critical to FOGG’s continued efforts.  Please send your tax deductible donation by check to PDF/FOGG, mailed to Jim Eggert, Treasurer and CPA, 550 Davis Street #46, San Francisco, CA 94111.  In writing your check, please enter on the memo line “tax deductible donation.”

Or you can donate online by clicking at the Donations to FOGG link on this website.

WE are optimistic you will heed and act positively on our need for funds to continue this morally correct mission.
