FOGG Open Letter – June 30, 2011

As we end the first half of 2011 there is a great deal of activity ahead of us and FOGG is preparing for the exciting and positive months ahead.

First, let us thank our supporters who helped send youngsters to Summer Kids Camp with your tax deductible donations to FOGG.  We exceeded our expectations, and many thanks also to the cooperation of the Club’s management, the Kids Camp Director, Laura Safran, and her dedicated staff.  This year we sent kids from low income housing in Chinatown, and also were able to include those from the South of Mission area.

We will do even better in 2012!

Our FOGG Treasurer, Jim Eggert, has retired from his CPA career.   We can never thank Jim enough for his years of work, and we will miss him as our Treasurer.  Jim will still offer his knowledge and assistance to FOGG on a consulting basis.

FOGG is extremely lucky to now have Mardi Kildebeck as our new Treasurer.  Mardi has extensive experience in accounting and foundation work.  Mardi has been a neighbor and an avid FOGG supporter for many years.

This brings us to our most important need – your FINANCIAL SUPPORT!

The July calendar is loaded with Planning Commission meetings and the Coalition lawsuit.  We need to keep moving ahead with our mission to overcome the proposed development known as the 8 Washington Street project for luxury condominiums and a 420 space underground parking garage on our existing Community Recreational Center.

It takes many volunteer hours, and the expertise of our land use attorney, Sue Hestor, who is evaluating and researching the DEIR (Draft Environmental Impact Report) and providing FOGG with invaluable guidance on how to respond to this document.  Sue is also providing us with counsel regarding the other legal issues about the 8 Washington project.  She is providing a clear path on how to preserve our neighborhood’s character, building scale and open space.  We thank her for her fine work.

You can make a real difference NOW by sending in your tax deductible donation to Friends of Golden Gateway, P.O. Box 2294, San Francisco, CA 94126.  Please make your checks out to PDF/FOGG, and on the memo line write “tax deductible donation”.

Or you can donate online by clicking on the ‘Donations to FOGG’ link on this website.

With your financial support we could end our many years of effort to save the Community Recreational Center (GGT&SC) in a positive and final manner for the thousands who care about the health and well being of our families, youth and seniors.

FOGG again is listing the important dates coming up in July:
